Reckless, dangerous, and careless driving offences
The Road Traffic Act distinction between reckless or dangerous driving under section 64 and driving without due care or reasonable consideration under section 65.

Section 64 of the Road Traffic Act prohibits driving a motor vehicle on a road recklessly or at a speed or in a manner dangerous to the public, having regard to the circumstances including the road, traffic, and expected traffic (SSO, Road Traffic Act 1961 s 64). The section provides separate consequences where the driving causes hurt, grievous hurt, or death, and distinguishes repeat and serious offenders in its sentencing provisions.
Section 65 prohibits driving on a road without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users (SSO, Road Traffic Act 1961 s 65). It too contains separate provisions for driving that causes hurt, grievous hurt, or death, as well as repeat-offender consequences.
