Singapore Digital Driving Licence
How to access the Digital Driving Licence in Singpass, use it for local verification, protect its display, and understand its status and limits.

The Singapore Digital Driving Licence (Digital DL) is a digital card in the Singpass app. It displays the holder's photograph, driving-licence number, vehicle classes, licence status, demerit points, and Certificate of Merit eligibility (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence FAQ).
If you have a Singapore driving licence and are eligible for a Singpass account, SPF says the Digital DL is available in the app; eligible learner motorists who have applied after meeting the requirements also receive one. To open it, launch Singpass, swipe left on the Digital IC on the homepage, tap Digital Driving Licence, then select “Show Details”. The homepage shows the licence holder's photograph and only the last four digits of the licence number by default. SPF says the Singpass “My Cards” section, which includes the Digital DL and Digital IC, can be hidden by default in the app settings or temporarily hidden from the homepage. Showing and verifying the licence
The Digital DL is an alternative official identification document for local verification of driving-licence information. SPF encourages organisations to check the live card inside the Singpass app because its information is up to date; screenshots and screen recordings must not be accepted as proof. SPF describes an animated, holographic lion crest at the lower right of the photograph as an authenticity feature: it is absent or static in a screenshot or recording (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence FAQ).
The Digital DL can be used in place of the photocard when asked to verify licence information locally, but SPF says the photocard may still be required in specific situations, such as driving overseas. SPF says drivers are not required by law to carry either licence while driving in Singapore, though having one available can help the Police verify details if the driver is stopped. The Digital DL needs an internet connection to retrieve its information, so it is unavailable offline. Privacy and lost phones
SPF says the Digital DL is not meant to be captured or recorded. If an organisation needs licence or personal information, SPF says it should use Singpass Verify or Myinfo with the user's consent, or manually record information displayed on the live card; applicable public-sector or personal-data protection laws govern collection and use (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence FAQ).
If a phone with Singpass is misplaced, SPF advises users to deactivate the Singpass app through the Singpass website or install the app on another device, which automatically deactivates the lost device (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence FAQ).
Overseas use
Recognition of the Digital DL overseas depends on the country visited. SPF advises drivers who plan to drive abroad to bring their photocard driving licence and an International Driving Permit (IDP); the Digital DL should not be assumed to be accepted there (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence FAQ).
Reading the status
SPF lists five statuses: Valid, Invalid, Expired, Suspended, and Disqualified. Valid appears on a green background; the other statuses appear grey. A revoked licence class is not shown on the Digital DL (SPF, Singapore Driving Licence — Digital Driving Licence Status).
SPF describes Invalid as a licence holder having reached the prescribed age without revalidating, and says the licence must be revalidated within three years from the date it became invalid.
