Oversized vehicle height limits and public escorts
OneMotoring and LTA procedure for over-height or otherwise oversized vehicles, including when an OVM permit and auxiliary police escort are required.

The OneMotoring height-limit sign prohibits vehicles taller than the stated height. The LTA driving-rules page also states that a vehicle exceeding the height limit must have a public escort; the same principle is stated for a vehicle exceeding a posted weight limit (LTA OneMotoring, Driving Rules and Information).
For an oversized heavy vehicle, LTA says an oversized vehicle movement (OVM) permit must be applied for through LTA.PROMPT three days in advance where the overall width exceeds 3 m (or 2.6 m on controlled roads), rear load overhang exceeds 40% of vehicle length or 1.8 m, whichever is less, or overall weight exceeds the vehicle type's laden-weight limit (LTA OneMotoring, Commercial Vehicles).
In addition to the OVM permit, an auxiliary police escort is required where the vehicle's overall width exceeds 3.4 m, overall height exceeds 4.5 m, or overall weight is 80,000 kg or more (LTA OneMotoring, Commercial Vehicles). LTA separately directs motorists to apply for a police escort when vehicle height exceeds 4.5 m (LTA OneMotoring, over-height vehicle guidance).
These are movement-authorisation requirements, not a replacement for observing a posted height, width, weight, or speed restriction. The vehicle operator should check the current LTA.PROMPT requirements for the intended route before moving the vehicle (LTA OneMotoring, Commercial Vehicles).
