OneMotoring states that regulatory signs inform road users of special obligations, restrictions and prohibitions with which they must comply. It groups these signs into mandatory signs, priority signs, and prohibitory or restrictive signs (OneMotoring, Driving Rules and Information).
Under its Mandatory Signs heading, OneMotoring says it is compulsory to follow these signs to avoid Traffic Police penalties and demerit points. The Schedule says that the Ahead Only, Turn Left/Right, Turn Left/Right Ahead, Keep Left/Right, and Pass Either Side signs require vehicles to follow the arrow, turn only in the indicated direction at the junction ahead, keep to the indicated side, or pass either side, respectively. It also says supplementary plates may qualify the Ahead Only, Turn Left/Right, Turn Left/Right Ahead, and Keep Left/Right signs (Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules, Schedule, diagrams 1–5).

The Schedule states that the Stop sign requires vehicles to stop before entering the junction at the transverse stop line; Stop Children means vehicles must not proceed beyond the sign; Give Way means giving precedence to traffic on the left or right, as applicable; and the Bus Give-Way sign requires stopping before the Bus Give-Way Line and giving precedence to buses entering or waiting to enter the Bus Give-Way Box (Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules, Schedule, diagrams 6 and 9–10A).
