Fee for a vehicle inspection under Road Traffic Act section 87
Section 88 authorises a fee for an inspection ordered under section 87, but the fee rule found in Singapore Statutes Online is marked spent, so its former amounts should not be treated as current.

Fee for a section 87 inspection
Section 87 allows the Deputy Commissioner of Police or the Registrar to require the owner of a licensed vehicle by written notice to produce the vehicle, its non-electronic licence, or both for inspection. Section 88 says a fee may be levied for an inspection under section 87 (Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic Act 1961, ss. 87–88).
Singapore Statutes Online lists the Road Traffic (Fees for Inspection of Vehicles) Rules as Spent. Their published text gives a $30 fee for an inspection under section 87 and a $20 fee for a subsequent inspection where the vehicle failed prescribed construction or condition requirements. Because the Rules are marked spent, those historical amounts are not stated here as current fees (Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic (Fees for Inspection of Vehicles) Rules, rr. 1–2; Singapore Statutes Online, list of spent subsidiary legislation).
LTA's current general vehicle-inspection page says authorised inspection centres set fees for periodic vehicle inspections and itemise them according to required tests. That guidance is about the periodic-inspection regime; it does not establish the fee currently payable for a section 87 inspection (LTA, Inspection fees itemised based on required tests).
Coverage debt
- The current amount, if any, chargeable for an inspection under section 87 is not established by the official sources checked. Do not use the former $30 and $20 amounts from the spent Rules as current fees without a current official rule or notice (Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic Act 1961, s. 88; Singapore Statutes Online, Road Traffic (Fees for Inspection of Vehicles) Rules).
