Traffic Police accepts appeals against outstanding traffic offences through its Traffic e-Appeals e-service. An applicant needs Singpass, the report reference number, relevant documentary proof, and a valid email address; the service page gives an estimated completion time of 15 minutes (SPF, Submit Appeal Against Traffic Offence).

For a traffic-offence appeal, SPF says that only appeals based on extenuating circumstances, such as a medical emergency, will be considered. Supporting documentary proof is required, and SPF evaluates that material together with the evidence gathered during enforcement. Repeated appeals without fresh evidence will not be considered (SPF, Submit Appeal Against Traffic Offence).

The separate service for an appeal against driving-licence suspension or revocation states that appeals to reduce demerit points or disqualification will be rejected and not processed. Only appeals with extenuating reasons and supporting documentary proof will be reviewed (SPF, Submit Appeal Against Driving Licence Suspension or Revocation).

An appeal against suspension is different from an appeal against revocation; the SPF service says to submit two separate appeals when both are relevant (SPF, Submit Appeal Against Driving Licence Suspension or Revocation). Pending an appeal does not itself authorise driving after the suspension or revocation period has started (SPF, Expansion of Traffic e-Appeals Portal Services).

Coverage debt

  • SPF gives examples of extenuating circumstances but does not publish an exhaustive list of grounds that guarantees approval.
  • This article does not predict the outcome of an individual appeal.
